EDMONTON, Alta. — The Alberta government announced it will delay implementing proposed regulations regarding school flag displays and mandatory daily national anthem procedures to allow for further consultations with school boards.
Premier Danielle Smith noted that while patriotic traditions remain important, local school boards requested operational flexibility.
"We are listening to parents, teachers, and trustees to ensure any provincial guidance is practical and respectful of classroom time," Smith stated.
Updated policy guidelines are scheduled for presentation to the Legislature during the late autumn sitting.
