The civil engineering project replaces 1,200 meters of undersized corrugated metal drainage pipes with high-capacity reinforced concrete storm sewers and constructs a computerized retention basin with oil-grit separators along Echo Lake. The upgrades prevent overland flood waters from submerging residential basements and historical downtown retail properties during intense convective summer rainstorms while eliminating sediment contamination into the Qu'Appelle River system.
