TORONTO, Ont. — Deputy Prime Minister Chrystia Freeland visited the Vector Institute for Artificial Intelligence to announce the deployment of national sovereign supercomputing capacity.
Keeping Talent in Canada
The federal initiative provides Canadian universities, medical researchers, and AI startups with subsidized domestic computing power.
"Canada is a world pioneer in AI, and we are ensuring our innovators have the computing horsepower to lead globally right here at home," Freeland said.
Clean Power Requirements
All contracted data centre clusters must operate on verified zero-emission hydroelectric and nuclear power.
