TORONTO, Ont. — Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Finance Chrystia Freeland outlined the rollout of the Canada Housing Infrastructure Fund during a meeting with Canadian mayors in Toronto.
Unlocking Shovel-Ready Land
The $6 billion program provides direct capital grants to cities upgrading critical drinking water pipes and electrical substations to support multi-family housing towers.
"We are giving Canadian municipalities the foundational infrastructure funding they need to build homes faster," Freeland said.
Streamlined Application Portal
Municipalities can submit eligible underground utility projects through a streamlined federal intake portal opening next month.
