Alberta commits $180M to develop clean hydrogen pipeline connections and heavy transport refueling stations.
EDMONTON, Alta. — Premier Danielle Smith unveiled Alberta's comprehensive Hydrogen Strategy at the Legislature, designating the Edmonton region as a premier global hub for low-carbon hydrogen production and commercial export.
The provincial strategy will finance pipeline infrastructure and heavy freight commercial vehicle retrofits along the Queen Elizabeth II Highway corridor.
"Alberta is leading the evolution of global energy systems," Premier Smith said. "Our abundant natural gas reserves and world-class carbon capture capacity position Alberta to supply clean energy to international markets."
Major international energy firms confirmed matching investments in hydrogen ammonia export facilities.
