SACRAMENTO, Calif. — Governor Gavin Newsom signed an executive directive today mandating expedited environmental and grid interconnection approvals for clean energy and high-capacity battery storage facilities across California.
Modernizing Grid Reliability
The order directs state regulatory agencies to streamline project timelines, ensuring new zero-carbon energy capacity comes online ahead of peak summer heat demands.
"California is proving that clean energy and economic prosperity go hand in hand," Governor Newsom said in Sacramento. "We are accelerating the buildout of a reliable, 100% clean electrical grid that powers our homes and businesses."
Battery Storage Milestones
California now operates more than 13,000 megawatts of battery storage, serving as a cornerstone of state grid stability during evening peak hours.
