OTTAWA, Ont. — Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada Sean Fraser has detailed a nationwide funding allocation to enhance dedicated support services and legal advocacy for victims of crime across Canadian provinces and territories.
The funding supports grassroots community organizations providing specialized trauma counseling, emergency shelter coordination, and legal navigation.
Minister Fraser highlighted the government's commitment to ensuring the criminal justice system provides compassion, dignity, and practical resources for victims and survivors.
"Supporting victims through the criminal justice process requires reliable, compassionate community services," Minister Fraser announced. "By investing in frontline organizations, we are ensuring survivors have access to the counseling, court accompaniment, and protection services they need to heal and rebuild."
The initiative complements recently introduced justice reform measures, including enhanced judicial training and updated victim notification protocols during court proceedings.
