HALIFAX, N.S. — Premier Tim Houston announced the completion of Nova Scotia's Seabed Leasing Regulations, paving the way for international energy developers to bid on commercial offshore wind tracts off the Scotian Shelf.
Tapping Ocean Energy
The offshore wind leases are designed to produce green hydrogen and supply renewable electricity to Atlantic Canada's regional power grid.
"Nova Scotia is poised to become a world leader in clean offshore wind development," Houston said at the Port of Halifax.
Environmental Standards
All offshore lease areas are subject to rigorous marine ecology assessments and Mi'kmaq community consultation.
