NIAGARA FALLS, Ont. — The Ontario government announced on August 14, 2026, an agreement between the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation (OLG) and MGE Niagara Entertainment Inc., which will open the door for additional casino operators in the Niagara Region. This agreement is a key component of Premier Doug Ford's "Destination Niagara Strategy," a plan initially announced in December, aimed at doubling visitors to the region.
The deal will see MGE Niagara Entertainment Inc. remove its exclusivity rights, while continuing to operate Fallsview Casino Resort and Casino Niagara. OLG is now poised to launch a procurement process later this year to identify potential new casino operators, signaling new investment and job creation opportunities for the region. The broader Destination Niagara strategy also includes proposals for a theme park and an expanded airport.
This move is expected to bring new investment to the Niagara Region, contributing to job growth and the overall provincial economy.
