Federal pilot program allocates funding for heat pumps, solar roofs, and mold remediation in NYCHA complexes.
NEW YORK, N.Y. — Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez joined tenant leaders at Woodside Houses in Queens to highlight the implementation of federal green housing modernization grants.
The program replaces outdated fuel-oil boilers with high-efficiency electric heat pumps and clean induction stoves, significantly improving indoor air quality for resident families.
"Every family deserves a healthy, comfortable, and energy-efficient home," Ocasio-Cortez remarked during the community walkthrough.
The green building upgrades are projected to reduce building operating energy expenses by 40%.
