SMITHS FALLS, ON — The Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Criminal Investigation Branch confirmed on Tuesday that forensic anthropology teams recovered the human remains of a third missing person on a heavily wooded rural acreage in Drummond/North Elmsley Township near Smiths Falls.
OPP forensic investigators, supported by specialized canine search units and ground-penetrating radar operators, have executed round-the-clock search warrants at the property since early August following historical missing persons tips connected to Eastern Ontario.
Forensic pathologists with the Ontario Forensic Pathology Service in Toronto are conducting advanced DNA sequencing to formally confirm the identity of the third individual and notify next-of-kin.
