Manitoba government provides student loan forgiveness and housing subsidies for healthcare workers serving northern communities.
WINNIPEG, Man. — Premier Wab Kinew announced an ambitious healthcare recruitment initiative aimed at staffing rural health centres and nursing stations across northern Manitoba.
The initiative offers full provincial student loan forgiveness and specialized retention incentives for registered nurses, nurse practitioners, and physicians who commit to three years of northern service.
"Every Manitoban, no matter how far north they live, deserves access to quality healthcare," Premier Kinew stated at the Legislature.
The program was developed in close coordination with the Manitoba Keewatinowi Okimakanak (MKO) and regional First Nations health authorities.
