Manitoba government funds Indigenous community patrols and mobile crisis de-escalation workers in the Exchange District.
WINNIPEG, Man. — Premier Wab Kinew announced provincial funding for grassroots community safety organizations, expanding daytime and evening outreach patrols across downtown Winnipeg and the North End.
The Bear Clan Patrol and Downtown Winnipeg BIA safety teams will receive dedicated resources for mental health de-escalation training and emergency communications gear.
"Community safety works best when we empower trusted local leaders who know our neighborhoods," Premier Kinew stated.
Patrol teams have connected dozens of individuals to emergency shelter and medical services each week.
